The Woven Wild Method supports women in healing from the root so they can live from their soul — by regenerating the sacred wisdom of the body.
Self as sacred
When I use the word sacred, I mean that which is revered, honoured, cared for and protected. Sacred are the things, places, people or ideas that are to be regarded with deep respected, sat with, and even worshipped.
The Woven Wild Method blends various approaches — somatics, nervous system science, cyclical & seasonal alignment — with a contextual understanding of the realities that have and continue to shape women’s lives.
It understands that trauma healing for us is not simply a matter of getting over a single overwhelming or threatening life event, but also and perhaps more importantly, it is a process of healing from many lifetimes of living under patriarchy, of being objectified, and of not having the safety to access our own wonderous personhood. While this work is individual, it is rooted in the collective reality that we find ourselves in.
Blending curiosity with compassion, instead of asking “what’s wrong” we ask “what has shaped you and does it serve you?”.
The Woven Wild Method is a framework for healing and reclaiming the self as sacred.
It blends four phases that, rather than occuring in a linear way, weave themselves together rhythmically and cyclically over time.
Roots
This first pillar is both literal and symbolic. In terms of symbolism it looks to nature to support us in understanding that what has been planted — with or without our consent — is what will grow.
In the literal sense, this is the phase of understanding that everything that we have lived through has impacted and shaped the direction of our lives. This includes the experiences of the lineage we come from and the experiences of our ancestors. All of this information exists in our bodies and unconsciously influences the outcome of our lives.
In order to become the sovereign leaders of ourselves — and to do so in a way that feels truly easeful, we must first tend to our roots, become aware of any damage, and give nourishment and medicine wherever needed. This is intergenerational trauma-healing.
From here we must seed something new, aligned with what we actually desire, value, and believe in.
Rhythm
Just as musical compositions have a certain rhythm that all musicians must follow in order to ensure harmony, so too does nature, and since we are nature, so do our bodies.
Unfortunately, living in societies disconnected from land and spirit has disconnected us from the natural rhythms in and around us. This, along with thousands of years of violence and generations of unprocessed trauma, has left our bodies and nervous systems in a profound state of chaos and incoherence.
This phase is about understanding how this incoherence is experienced in the body while begining to cultivate a feeling of safety and belonging so as to progressively move out of survival mode towards a felt state of harmonious being.
Ritual
Ritual is a repeated series of actions or choices with the intent to create an internal or external shift within the participants. In this context, the development of ritual in your life means devoting to practicing what you truly long to experience — through your body, and in your life.
The Woven Wild Method is structured in a way that leads you to tend to your roots; understand how things came to be, and, understand how to restore your natural rhythms so that you can create rituals that actually support your healing and flourishing. This phase is the development of self-trust and internal authority based on the prior practice of self-connection and growth of self-knowledge. By understanding the reason for your choices and trusting their validity, it becomes easier to be consistent and remain aligned with the actions needed to experience the life you want to create.
From the understanding that we become what we practice, cultivating rituals is about establishing practices that are aligned with a deep understanding of your unique context, your needs, and what you truly desire for your life.
Regeneration
To regenerate means to create again. What will you create again? Or better question, who will you become once you access your capacity to create your life from within?
This is the most exciting and mysterious aspect of somatic transformation. Throughout this entire process, you will have been meeting with the parts of you that were harmed, silenced and shamed, holding them with the utmost care, compassion and curiosity. When the hurt parts of us finally receive the love and connection that they need, they start to heal. When our bodies start to experience safety and belonging, the parts that had once gone into hiding begin to come back into the light.
For many of us, this phase holds a particularly contradictory grief; balancing the joy of discovering who we are when we feel safe and free, with the sadness that it took so long to get here. This process can feel like becoming a completely different person, while also feeling a profound sense of knowing that “this is always who I was meant to be”. It is the restauration of our relationship with ourselves, the ability to live from within. In essence, to regenerate oneself, is to fully inhabit our lives. And once we do this, we access our inherent power, leadership, and creative potential.
I would be honoured to support you in cultivating a sacred relationship with yourself.
Holding space for women’s bodies and souls to come alive is one of my biggest missions in life — I would love to share this work with you.
I offer individual somatic sessions which you can book at your own pace without any pressure. I find that setting your own schedule for healing is the best way to experience somatics because it allows you to deepen your relationship with your life context and notice which rhythm is most supportive and aligned.
Whether you want to work together on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis, the work works and I’d be glad to be a part of your process.
Much love,
Islay
